Award-winning knitting instructor Nancy Ruehle offers two sessions of Knitting with Nancy on Saturdays. Students may get help with any ongoing knitting project, learn techniques or they may also choose to knit one of Nancy's featured projects.
We are pleased to feature Nancy's current projects for present and future inspiration. You may choose to make one of these projects with Nancy's assistance at whatever pace you choose. Nancy is a prolific knitter and is happy to guide you through any of her previously featured projects as well as those of the current season . If you are intrigued by lace, the Peacock Lace Washcloth is the project is for you! This pattern by Medrith Glover is a revival of a very clever antique lace project. Knit from the center out after the body of the bird is worked, the sample is done in fingering weight cotton. You can be more creative with your yarn choice and make a larger version. Individual patterns are available at the shop.

The Sissinghurst Cardigan is a delightful worsted weight cardigan with lots of opportunities for learning details to make your sweaters look great. Knit in one piece, Nancy's sample was made with perennial favorite Cascade 220, but any worsted weight yarn will work. Single patterns for this project are available at the shop. Start this project this summer and have a new sweaer ready for Fall!

Keep Warm While Winter Wanes (we hope) in this cozy Alpine Trek vest from the current Knitter's Magazine. Nancy has worked it up in Lana Grossa Royal Tweed - lots of colors choices are available. Choose a main color and 2 contrasting colors - Nancy's sample is on the back wall in the shop for your inspiration.

Pick the yarn of your choice, work up a gauge swatch, determine the number of stitches you need for the size you want and knit up a basic Mobius Scarf. The pattern is from Cat Bordhi's book A Treasury of Magical Knitting book 1 or 2. This is what Nancy calls a "potato chip" pattern – you can't make just one.

This popular Mitered Jacket pattern is a modular cardigan made with beautiful Boku from Plymouth. Constructed with four squares for the front and four for the back, you then pick up the sleeve stitches and work down. Check with instructor before buying yarn as the amounts on the pattern (Plymouth #1676) are incorrect. If you are viewing the sweater in the shop be sure to check out the back of the sweater.

Learn to CROCHET! Yes, many of you have asked about a beginning class and Nancy has added this darling little bag to her repertoire. You can learn the basics of crochet and make this cute bag. Made with four colors of Cotton Glace from Rowan, it is fun to make and is a great holiday gift.

This is the Karma Jacket out fo the Harvest book from Mission Falls, made with 1824 wool using nine different colors of yarn. Learn how to convert this parttern to knitting in one piece and working the sleeves down from the shoulders, givng you minimal finishing. You will also learn intarsia in a small dose, very do-able!

This darling cardigan features a tiny front ruffle. The pattern is Elka from Ella Rae's Book 13 and is made from Ella Rae Lace Merino, a gorgeous hand-dyed yarn. Jitterbug or Koigu are easy substitutes. This is a straight-forward set-in sleeve cardigan with a tiny ruffle trim up the front. We will discuss the importance of working two skeins of yarn at once to avoid pooling.

This long-sleeved pullover is called Rhumba and is worked out of Berroco Seduce and Lumina and features a bit of glamour and glitz - would be a lot of fun for the holidays! The pattern is found in Berroco #272 and is a quick knit on size 8 needles. We have a great selection of these yarns, so many color choices are available!

This long-sleeved pullover is called Margery, is designed by Elsebeth Lavold and is made out of her Silky Wool. This fiber is wonderfully lightweight and is lovely to work with and wear. The pattern is found in Lavold's book #6. We are stocked in over 25 shades of this beautiful yarn, so you have many choices. The Celtic and cabling and chart work provide just enough interest to make an engaging pattern. Learn how to break down the chart into easily readable parts for faster knitting.

Elizabeth Zimmerman's Adult Surprise Jacket: If you always wanted to make this sweater but found it too confusing, now is your chance! This pattern is found in several of Elizabeth's books and it is also sold as a free standing pattern. Pick any yarn you want to use and we will determine gauge and needle size according to your yarn. This is a uniquely constructed "mostly in one piece" pattern, fun and very interesting. It looks great in multicolored yarns or striped in several solid colors.

Students may buy Knitting with Nancy by the month, by the project, by individual session or a combination of both. Drop-ins are welcome, space permitting. Monthly knitting purchases must be used for the month purchased. Nancy's previous projects are featured on the Archived Projects page.
